Calvin University junior Jalen Overway was named MIAA Player of the Week for men's basketball on Tuesday.
 
Overway (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) won the honor following his performances in a pair of wins over Kalamazoo College (81-47) and Albion College (80-77) last week.
 
In the two wins, Overway averaged 28.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while shooting 81.0 percent from the field. He shot a perfect 10-10 from the field against Kalamazoo on the way to 25 points, and followed that with a 32-point effort on 11-16 shooting against Albion, with 23 of those points coming in the second half.
 
This season, Overway is averaging career-highs in points (23.2) and rebounds (11.9) per game on 64.0 percent shooting from the field while recording 11 double-doubles.
 
This marks the seventh time Overway has won MIAA Player of the Week honors during his career. He was also named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the third time on Monday.
 
The 15th-ranked Calvin men's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday, January 21, when it travels to Trine University for a game scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
