GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Calvin men's volleyball team played in two matches at the Cornerstone Invitational where they went 1-1.

MATCH 1
CALVIN 3, INDIANA EAST 1
Â
In their first match of the evening the Knights picked up a 3-1 win over Indiana State with set scores of 25-20, 17-25, 25-23, and 27-25.

The Knights came out strong as they won the opening set, but the Red Wolves answered right back with a win in the second set. The Knights won the third set before showing some resilience in the fourth as they fended off two set points from Indiana East on their way to victory.

Calvin finished the match with a .137 hitting percentage with their best performance of .200 coming in the first set. The Knights racked up 34 kills as a team with freshman
Gavin Barber (Lowell, Mich./Lowell) leading the way with 11 kills. Freshman
Bryce Broekhuizen (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian) and senior
Gabriel Laughlin (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Michigan Aviation Academy) each chipped in 8 kills.

Ezekiel Jalan (Oconomowoc, Wis./Arrowhead) recorded 13 assists while sophomore setter
Cameron Dogger (Holland, Mich./Zion Christian) notched 12 assists and a team high 9 digs.

Nick Bultje (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian) each recorded two blocks.

CALVIN 0, GOVERNORS STATE 3

In their second match of the nights Calvin fell 0-3 to Governors State with scores of 17-25, 22-25, and 23-25.Â

Sophomore duo
Brady Gudauskas (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley High) and
Wyatt Burch (Highlands Ranch, Co./Valor Christian) led the attack for Calvin with 5 kills apiece while Bultje chipped in 4 kills.

Freshman
Jackson Cook (Kuna, Id./IHLA) recorded a team high 6 digs while
Alejandro Burns () and Jalan each finished with 6 assists.
