GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.- The Calvin University D3 ACHA hockey team completed the weekend sweep of Davenport University this weekend, winning 12-0 on the road. Calvin is now 13-4-3 and ranked 8th in the nation.
Myles Raadersma scored a pair of goals in the 1st period while
Nathan Rublein, and
Owen Duiker also got on the board. Duiker also had 2 assists in the 1st period. Calvin had 29 shots on goal in the 1st period while Davenport had 5. Calvin ended the period up 4-0 on the panthers.
Radersma scored the 1st goal of the 2nd period to complete his Hattrick,
Josiah Lambers scored 2 back-to-back goals to follow up Radersma. Cam Svoda and Nick LeClair also scored, and
Owen Duiker had three assists. By the end of the period Calvin was up 9-0. Calvin had 34 shots on goal in the period and Davenport had 3.
Riley Austin scored the Knights' 10th goal of the game to get the scoring started in the final period. Tommy Postal and Chris Bebelos also scored in the 3rd period. Calvin had 28 shots on goal in the 3rd period while Davenport had 4. Calvin outshot Davenport with a total of 91 shots on goal to 12.
COACHES COMMENT: Head Coach Austin Huizenga, "Happy with how our guys played all weekend. They created their own intensity and played with high pace in both games. As a coach that's all I can ask for."
NEXT UP: Calvins next game will be on Valentines Day, Friday February 14th at 8:30pm. The game will be against the University of Michigan-Flint in Flint Michigan.
