GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA D3 hockey team defeated Aquinas College 8-1 on the road. Calvin is now 8-0-1 on the season and ranked 5th in the Nation.
Harry Ottsen scored the only goal of the 1st period for either team to put the Knights in front. He scored with 14:02 to play in the period with assists from
Joel Dieleman and
Oleg Grishatov.
Myles Raadersma scored back to back goals in the 2nd period with 19:26 and 11:28 to play in the period. Josh VanSchepen followed him up with 10:41 to play in the period to put Calvin ahead 4-0. Trace Delcarmen scored Aquinas' only goal with 9:29 to play in the period from Ben Lavalley. Aquinas' hopes didn't last long as Raadersma knocked in his 3rd goal of the game and of the period with 6:21 to play in the period.
Josiah Lambers picked up right where the Knights left off in the 3rd period scoring 1:45 into the period. Raadersma scored his 4th with 15:44 to play, while
Ian Schweigert got on the board with 1:05 to
play to close out a dominant Calvin Victory.
COACHES COMMENT: Head Coach Austin Huizenga, "I'm happy with how we played tonight. Started off a little slow in the 1st period, but we locked in our focus for the 2nd and 3rd for a good conference win tonight. We're looking forward to the rematch tomorrow night."
