Ty Horky (Manchester, Mich./Manchester/Kalamazoo College) made a pair of threes as the two combined for 15 first-half points off the bench.
The Knights remained in control the rest of the way as Alma's best push was only able to cut the Calvin lead to nine points at 51-42 before the Knights put the game away with a 22-8 run.
Egekeze closed the game on a high note with 12 of his game-high 22 points coming in the second half, while
Trevin Winkle (McBain, Mich./Northern Michigan Christian) finished with 12 points on 5-7 shooting in the final 20 minutes and finished the game with 17 total points.
Varnado finished with 15 points to go with three assists for Calvin, while Swartz scored 14 to go with three assists, three steals and three blocks off the bench.
COACH'S COMMENT: "Give Alma credit; I thought they came out with a lot of energy and really pushed us in that first half," Calvin head men's basketball coach
Bill Sall said. "Much better second half. I thought we defended a lot better. I was disappointed in how we defended in that first half. Really happy with how some our guys performed. I thought Uchenna (Egekeze) was really good. Trevin (Winkle) really went (in the second half). And Parker (Swartz) has really taken off here of late and filled up the stat sheet today."
NEXT UP: Calvin men's basketball will return to action on Wednesday, January 29, when it travels to Trine University to face the third-ranked Thunder at a game scheduled to tip off at 7:30 PM.
