LIVONIA, Mich. – In a matchup of nationally-ranked teams, Calvin and Lawrence Tech battled to a 4-4 overtime tie.
Calvin entered the game ranked sixth in the latest ACHA D3 rankings while Lawrence Tech came in ranked fourth. Lawrence Tech also came in as the defending ACHA D3 National Champions.
The Knights (9-3-3) came roaring out of the gates, scoring three first period goals including a tally by sophomore
Josiah Lambers just 11 seconds into the contest. Junior

Zach Westrick then scored for Calvin, giving the Knights a stunning 3-0 advantage after one period of play.
The host Blue Devils exploded for four second period goals to build a 4-3 lead.
With just 7:50 left in the third period, freshman
Hayden Fernhout scored an equalizer for the Knights off a feed from freshman
Preston Berta.
In overtime, both teams had chances playing 4 on 4 hockey but neither was able to score as the two sides settled for one point in the conference standings.
Lawrence Tech finished with a 49-41 shots on goal advantage. Senior
Garrett Walker came up with 44 saves on a busy night in net for the Knights.
COACHES COMMENT: "I was happy with how we played," said Calvin head coach Austin Huizenga. "It was our first game back from break. Giving up a three-goal lead isn't always fun but happy we battled back to tie it."
