FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The 13
th-ranked Calvin ACHA D1 hockey team fell to the 11
th-ranked Purdue Northwest Pride 4-0 Friday night in the semifinals of the GLCHL Tournament Friday night at the Farmington Hills Ice Center.
The Knights (21-9-1) will now await a bid to the upcoming ACHA D1 National Tournament with the tournament field set to be announced next week.
In its loss to Purdue Northwest, Calvin fell behind 1-0 in the opening minutes and minutes later, the Pride scored a power play goal on a tip-in near the crease in a scrum of players.
Purdue Northwest added two more goals in the second period to seal the win.
Calvin outshot Purdue Northwest 44-42. Freshman
Adam Yost came up with 38 saves for the Knights.
COACHES COMMENT: "Their (PNW) specialty units won the game for them tonight," said Calvin head coach
Mike Petrusma. "We will regroup for nationals. We are one of 24 teams left and we will be prepared."
