RACINE, Wis. - The Calvin University men's tennis team closed its two-day trip to Wisconsin with a 6-3 win over MSOE at Racine Indoor Tennis Club on Friday.
Calvin (3-0) won two of the three matches in doubles, and then closed out the win over MSOE (1-3) with four of six in singles competition.
The Knights started off strong in doubles, where the number-one team ofÂ
Felipe Sartori (Cotia, Brazil/Colegio Giusto Zonzini) andÂ
Rodrigo Alipio (Santos, Brazil/COC Universitario) won 8-3, and the number-two team ofÂ
Maurquis Willingham (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Corwin Kim (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) won 8-2.
In singles play, Alipio (6-3, 6-3), Sartori (6-2, 6-1), Kim (6-1, 6-0) and
Ryan Broek (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) (6-0, 6-1) each won in straight sets to secure the four points.Â
Willingham came back from an early deficit to force a third set in his number-one singles match, but lost a tie-breaker in a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) defeat.
Harrison Sindelar (Westfield, Ind./Westfield) lost in number-five singles 6-3, 6-3.
