GRAND RAPIDS Mich.- The 12th ranked Calvin ACHA D1 Men's hockey team lost 602 against  the 11th ranked Purdue University Northwest Pride. The Knights are now 20-8-1 on the year. 
 
PNW scored the only goal of the 1st period. Charlie Smith lit the lamp from Micheal Clough. Calvin more than doubled PNW's shots on goal, putting up 20, to PNW's 8. But Northwest's goalie Cooper Olson came up big and saved all 20 shots on goal.
 
Five minutes into the 2nd period Kyle VanDusen equalized for the Knights from Jadon Barron. PNW quickly retook its lead 58 seconds later off a Craig Herman goal from Jared Topil and Bryce Jacobson. PNW scored 3 additional goals in the 2nd period, by RJ Swaw, Chase Solberg, and Brennan Schidlowsky. Calvin's Kyle VanDusen scored his 2nd goal of the game and the 2nd goal for the Knights with 3:29 left in the 2nd period from Ayden Adamic to break up the scoring run for PNW. Calvin outshot PNW again in the 2nd period 15-13 but were not able to capitalize nearly as well as PNW.
 
PNW scored its 6th and final goal of the game with 14:34 left in the game. Carter Hobbs scored from Andrew Remer and Michael Clough. Calvin had two more shots on goal than PNW in the 3rd period with 14, to PNW's 12. Calvin had 49 total shots on goal while PNW had 33. 
 
COACHES COMMENT: Head Coach Mike Petrusma-"Weird game. We outshot them badly and lost by 4. We start the playoff season now. Every team has a record 0-0 starting next week. We played well enough to win tonight but couldn't get any puck luck."
 
NEXT UP: Calvin plays Thursday February 15th in the first round of the GLCHL D1 tournament against Western Michigan at 6 p.m.
