Calvin Gains Weekend Split With 1-0 Shootout Win Over Purdue Northwest

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA D1 hockey team defeated Purdue University Northwest 1-0 in a shootout at home. The Knights are currently ranked 11th in the country and are now 17-3-0 on the year.

Both teams went scoreless in both regulation and overtime, backed by strong performances from both goalies. Adam Yost was in goal for Calvin and Cooper Olsen was the goalie for Purdue NW. Calvin had a total of 35 shots on goal between regulation and Overtime while Purdue NW had 29 total shots on goal.

Adam Yost was able to save all 3 of PNW's shots in Overtime. Daniel Siso scored the Lone shootout goal for the Knights to give them a hard-fought win.
The victory came one night after Calvin had suffered a 5-2 defeat to PNW in Hammond, Indiana.

COACHES COMMENT: Interim Head Coach Josh Petrusma, "This was playoff-like hockey and a battle with two great goalies. It was a good result and bounce back from last night. I loved our commitment to our defensive zone. We blocked shots, made quick decisions with the puck, and played a physical style. It's a great way to end a successful first semester and some building blocks for a tough schedule after Christmas.

NEXT UP: Calvin's next opponent will be Liberty University after the semester break. The game will be at Liberty in Lynchburg Virginia on Friday, January 17th.
