GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin Knights completed the sweep against Illinois State University on Saturday winning 7-2 at home. The Knights are now 9-1 on the season.
Calvin scored four unanswered goals in the 1st period.
Daniel Siso started off the scoring with a goal in the 2nd minute of the game, he was assisted by
Hayden Zimmerman.
Hayden Zimmerman then scored a goal of his own 3 minutes later. He was assisted by
Steven Ickes.
Dario Sacino scored the Knights 3rd goal of the period with 8:05 remaining in the period from
Chase McIntyre.
Alim Darmenov scored the knights final goal of the period with assists from
Lou Vesperini and
Nick Justice.
The Knights slowed down in the 2nd period giving up their 1st goal of the game. Jaycob Bland scored for Illinois State from Will Tricarico, in the 2nd minute of the period. Calvin put up two goals of its own late in the period with goals from
Ethan Pool and
Joel Dieleman.Â
Each team scored a goal in the 3rd period, Calvin's came 1st halfway through the final period when
Krzyzstof Petryla scored off a
Steven Ickes pass.
Steven Ickes completed a hat trick of assists with his pass to Petryla. Sam Truxaw scored for Illinois State in the waning minutes of the game on a power play.Â
In net for Calvin was
Adam Yost with 23 saves on 25 shots. And in goal for Illinois state was Brendan Donovan saving 34 of 41 shots on goal.
