GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin Knights defeated Illinois State University 3-1 on Friday night at home. The Knights are now 8-1 going into the 2nd leg of their double Header against Illinois state.

Calvin scored its 1st goal of the game midway through the 1st period.
Lou Vesperini scored with an assist from
Nick Justice and
Krzyzstof Petryla. Illinois state equalized with under a minute remaining in the period. Tony Campise scored with an assist from Jaycob Bland. Calvin had 11 shots on goal to Illinois states 10.

Calvin scored its 2nd of the game midway through the 2nd period.
Hayden Zimmerman scored off
Steven Ickes assist to put the Knights back in front 2-1. Calvin was outshot 15-12 in the 2nd period.

Calvin scored its 3rd and final goal in the 3rd minute of the 3rd period.
Hayden Zimmerman scored his 2nd of the game with assists from
Daniel Siso and
Steven Ickes. Calvin had 15 shots on goal while Illinois State had 7.Â

In goal for the Knights was
Adam Yost saving 31 of 32 shots on goal.
