Calvin split its weekend series against 9th ranked Purdue University Northwest, winning the 2nd half of the matchup at home 2-1 on Saturday night at Eagles Ice Center. Ranked 10
th nationally, Calvin is now 7-1.
PNW took an early lead in the 1st period scoring in the 4th minute of the game. Kolin Leduc scored with an assist from Hayden Masloski. Calvin was able to equalize with just 2 seconds left in the period.
Ethan Best scored the goal from
Joel Fonovic and
Steven Ickes. Calvin had 11 shots on goal in the 1st period while PNW had 12.
In the 2nd period Calvin was able to take the lead while down a man.
Krzyzstof Petryla scored the goal from
Nick Justice and
Steven Ickes. Calvin had 8 shots on goal while PNW had 7.
In the 3rd period Calvin really put on the pressure, nearly doubling its shots on goal total with 17. PNW was held to 8 shots on goal. Calvin had a total of 36 shots on goal while PNW had 8. Neither team was able to score in the final period.
