GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Calvin completed its weekend series against Central Michigan University on Saturday sweeping the series and beating CMU 5-2 in the Saturday night edition of the weekend set. The Knights remain undefeated and are 6-0.
Both teams scored a single goal in the 1st period. Calvin scored first, 3:47 into the period. Chris Bebelos scored with assists from
Hayden Fernhout and
Nathan Sova. Just 20 seconds later CMU scored an unassisted goal from Owen Campbell. Calvin had 22 shots on goal in the 1st period while CMU had 4.
CMU took the lead in the 2nd period with a goal 3:23 into the period. Julian Johnson knocked it home. Calvin equalized in the 13th minute of the period with a goal from
Owen Duiker, and assisted by Chris Bebelos. Calvin outshot CMU 18-7 in the 2nd period.
Calvin scoring took off in the 3rd period with 3 goals.
Myles Radersma scored in the 9th minute of the period with an assist from Chris Bebelos and
Oleg Grishatov.
Brock Hearth scored in the 11th minute from
Josiah Lambers, and in the 20th minute Chris Bebelos scored his 2nd of the game. The Knights outshot CMU 21-4 in the 3rd period and 61-15 for the game.
Freshman
Trent Goheen was in goal for Calvin with 15 saves and 2 goals allowed.
COACHES COMMENT: Head coach Austin Huizenga, "Really solid win tonight. CMU is a good team and will make some noise this year. Happy with how our guys played in the third, and we look forward to GVSU next weekend."
NEXT UP: Calvin plays Grand Valley State University on Friday, November 1st at 9:30pm. The game will be hosted by GVSU in Baue, Michigan.
