MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.- Calvin University took down Central Michigan University (CMU) 7-1 on Friday night. Calvin is now 5-0.

Calvin scored four straight in the 1st period and held CMU scoreless in the period.
Sergey Yakunin scored the 1st goal for the Knights 2 minutes into the game from
Harry Ottsen and
Gabriel Sova.
Drew Klomparens scored the next goal two minutes later. Calvin scored two goals in the closing minutes to finish off a strong period.Â

WMU scored its only goal midway through the 2nd period. Nick Kuhn scored, and was assisted by Owen Campbell. Calvin returned the favor with a goal from
Owen Duiker, who was assisted by
Josiah Lambers and
Myles Radersma. The period ended with the Knights in front 5-1.

Drew Klomparens scored his 2nd and 3rd goals of the game in the 3rd period to complete his hattrick. His 1st was 1:45 into the period and was assisted by
Joshua VanSchepen. His 3rd goal of the game came in the 16th minute of the 3rd period and was unassisted.Â

COACHES COMMENT: Head Coach Austin Huizenga, "Credit to CMU. They had us on our heels at a few points throughout the game. We did a good job to ride those out and capitalize on our scoring chances."

NEXT UP: Calvin will complete the double header playing CMU at home on Saturday October 26th at 4:30pm. The game will be at Eagles Ice arena in Grand Rapids.
