HAMMOND, Ind.- Calvin Hockey suffered its first loss of the season on the road at Purdue University Northwest. The 10
th-ranked Knights lost 4-1 against 9
th-ranked Purdue Northwest (PNW).
PNW struck first with a goal from Noah Murphy who was assisted by Chase Solberg and Carter Hobbs.
That was the only goal of the 1st period. Calvin had 11 shots on goal while PNW had 7.
PNW scored twice more in the 2nd period with Calvin scoring a goal in between. Three minutes into the 2nd period, PNW's Baden Powell scored to put the Pride up 2-0. Calvin scored its only goal of the game with 13:31 left to go in the 2nd period when
Nick Justice was assisted by
Hayden Zimmerman. With just under three minutes to go in the period PNW scored its 3rd goal of the game off an Andrew Remer goal. Calvin outshot PNW again in the 2nd period with 17 shots on goal to PNW's 10.
Calvin fought hard in the 3rd period to try and regain the lead, putting up 12 shots on goal while giving up 9. The effort wasn't enough and the Knights gave up an empty net goal with 22 seconds left while trying to get back into the game. Allowing PNW to come away with a 4-1 win.
In net for the Knights was Junior
Carlos Siso, who made 27 saves and gave up 4 goals.

Mike Petrusma, "It was one of those games. We played well at times, but lack of discipline cost us this game. We will regroup for Saturday."
NEXT UP: Calvin has another opportunity to take down Purdue University Northwest at home. The game will be at Eagles Ice arena in Grand Rapids on Saturday October 26th at 7:30pm.
