GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Calvin defeated Davenport University 4-1 on the road in a GL6 matchup Friday night. The Knights now improve to 5-0 on the season.
Calvin's
Ethan Pool scored the lone goal of the 1st period for the knights just over halfway through the period. Pool was assisted by
Daniel Siso. The knights put up 14 shots on goal in the 1st period, to the five of Davenport.
Hayden Zimmerman scored a pair in the 2nd period to extend the Calvin lead to 3-0.
Nick Justice assisted both goals with some help from
Joel Fonovic on the first. The Knights outshot Davenport 9-4 in the 2nd.
Daniel Siso scored the Knights' 4th goal of the game midway through the 3rd period, off assists from
Lou Vesperini and
Tony Eaton. A minute-and-a-half later Trent Benedict scored Davenport's only goal of the game unassisted to make the game 4-1 in favor of the Knights. Davenport had 9 shots on goal in the 3rd period to Calvin's 7.
In net for the Knights was Junior
Carlos Siso with 17 saves and one goal allowed.

Mike Petrusma, "Good win for us tonight. Offensively we were a little off, but we played well defensively both in the defensive zones as well as in transition.
Carlos Siso was excellent in net! We look forward to Aquinas next Wednesday."
NEXT UP: Calvin will play Aquinas at home on Wednesday October 16th. The game will be at Eagles Ice Center in Grand Rapids at 6 p.m. and will be another GL6 conference matchup.
