GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin Division 1 ACHA men's hockey team defeated Cleary on Saturday night September 23, 5-2 on the road. The Knights start their season off strong after beating Cleary both home and away during their weekend matchups, moving to 2-0 on the season.

Calvin opened up the game with two goals in the first period, scored by
Joshua Ernst at the 13:11 minute mark and
Ethan Pool with 4:39 remaining in the first period. The Knights held Cleary scoreless for the entirety of the period.

Cleary would put two goals in the back of the net during the 2nd period. First by Jonny Gardiner with 15:32 in the 2nd and then by Ben Gledhow with 8:14 remaining to tie the score back up at 2-2. The Knights finished the period well, with goals scored by Jacob Sieberga, and
Nick Justice to put the Knights back up two goals, ending the period 4-2.

Kyle VanDusen would score one more goal for the Knights with 6:03 left in the game to put the Cleary Cougars away and end a relatively uneventful 3rd period. The Knights finished the game out with a 5-2 victory.
