Calvin ACHA D1 Hockey Downs Grand Valley in GLCHL Semis - To Face Adrian in Saturday Final

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin ACHA D1 hockey team rolled to an 8-1 win over 12th-ranked Grand Valley State on Friday night in the semifinals of the GLCHL Tournament at Eagles Ice Center.

The victory vaults 15th-ranked Calvin (22-6-3) into the GLCHL finals on Saturday against fourth-ranked Adrian with the title tilt set for 6 p.m. at Eagles Ice Center.

Freshman Krzysztof Petryla had his second hat-trick performance in as many nights to lead the charge. In the process he set a new Calvin (D1) single-season record for points with 68, boosting his season totals to 29 goals and 39 assists. The record breaks the previous mark of 64 points set by Jared Virtanen during the 2019-20 season.

Senior Jacob Siebenga had a pair of goals as did freshman Joel Dielman. Freshman Steven Ickes also put one in the back of the net for the Knights.

Freshman Carlos Siso was strong in goal with 36 saves.

COACHES COMMENT: "We played a complete game," said Calvin head coach Mike Petrusma. "The guys were great in execution, both offensively and defensively. We look forward to playing Adrian tomorrow for the (GLCHL) playoff championship."

NEXT UP: Calvin will host fourth-ranked Adrian at 6 p.m. in the GLCHL Tournament Championship Game Saturday at Eagles Ice Center.
