CALVIN-AQUINAS SMUGMUG PHOTO GALLERY
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA D1 men's hockey team defeated Aquinas College (Mich) 5-0 on Friday night at home in the opener of the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic. Calvin is now 16-4-1 on the year and ranked 12th in the nation.

Calvin scored two goals in the waning minutes of the 1st period.
Steven Ickes scored with 6:23 left in the period from
Joel Fonovic and
Justin Davis. Ickes added an assist when he assisted
Krzyzstof Petryla with 3:15 left in the period. Calvin had 14 shots on Goal to the six of Aquinas.

Calvin lit up the net in the 2nd period putting 22 shots on target but Aquinas Keeper Randon Striplin saved every shot. Aquinas put up 10 shots of its own but nothing got past Knights keeper
Carlos Siso.

Calvin put up three additional goals in the 3rd period to lock the game away.
Steven Ickes connected with
Krzyzstof Petryla again, for Petryla's 2nd goal of the game and Ickes 2nd assist with 15:15 left in the game.
Adam Heard got his name on the stat sheet with a goal with 10:04 left in the game. Calvin's 5th and final goal of the game was scored by Josh Ernst with 8:22 left in the game. Calvin outshot Aquinas 16-9 in the 3rd period for a total of 52 shots on goal for the Knights and 25 for Aquinas.

Mike Petrusma-"This was a good game for us. We gave up some transitions in the 2nd period which led to some scoring chances for them.
Carlos Siso played well all night and came up big in the 2nd period for us."

NEXT UP: Calvin plays Grand Valley State University on Saturday night December 9th at 7:30 P.M. in the championship game. The contest will be home for the Knights at Eagles Ice Arena in Grand Rapids Michigan.
