GRAND RAPIDS Mich.- The Calvin ACHA Division 1 men's hockey team defeated Roosevelt University 7-1 on Friday. The Knights are now 15-4 on the season and ranked 12th as of the latest polls.

Calvin scored its only goal of the 1st period with 7 minutes left, on a power play.
Ethan Best scored off an assist from
Steven Ickes. The Knights controlled the 1st period having 16 shots on goal and only letting up 3 shots on goal for Roosevelt.

Calvin picked up the pace in the 2nd period, scoring three additional goals and putting 23 more shots on goal. The more aggressive gameplay allowed Roosevelt to put 10 shots on goal, however Knights keeper
Carlos Siso handled it well and saved all 10 shots.
Joel Fonovic,
Kyle VanDusen, and
Krzyzstof Petryla were the goal scorers for Calvin. While
Krzyzstof Petryla,
Nick Justice,
Jacob Siebenga, and
Joel Fonovic all collected an assist.
Steven Ickes had a pair of assists. The Knights ended the 2nd period up 4-0.

Nick Justice scored with 15:31 left in the game to give the Knights a 5-goal lead off an assist from
Jacob Siebenga. Roosevelt scored its only goal of the match with 8:20 remaining. Cade Swygert connected with Tanner Hallet to put Roosevelt on the board. Calvin retaliated, with both
Joel Fonovic and
Krzyzstof Petryla scoring their 2nd goals of the game in the closing minutes.
Steven Ickes had the 2nd assist for both goals while Fonovic and Petryla both assisted each other. Calvin had a total of 60 shots on goal as opposed to Roosevelt's 24.Â
