GRAND RAPIDS Mich.- The 19th ranked Calvin ACHA Division 1 men's hockey team lost Friday night 5-3 against Purdue University Northwest . The Knights are now 9-4 overall.

Calvin took an early lead with 14:30 left in the first period.
Ethan Pool put it in the back of the net and was assisted by Kyle Vandusen. However, Purdue Northwest would go on a 3-goal scoring run to close out the 1st period. Sam Bourdages, Max Beller, and Andrew Remer all scored in the closing 7 minutes of the period to give Purdue Northwest a 3-1 lead over Calvin going into the 2nd period. Calvin had 20 shots on goal to Northwest's 9.

Lou Vesperini cut into Northwest's lead scoring with 17:37 left in the 2nd period. He was assisted by Josh Ernst and
Ethan Best. Sam Bourdages Scored his 2nd goal of the game for the Lions with 8:47 off assists from Andrew Remer and Mike Clough. The 2nd period ended with a 4-2 lead for Purdue Northwest.

Calvin struck first yet again in the 3rd period. Jacob Seibenga scored with 14:24 left in the game from
Krzyzstof Petryla and
Steven Ickes to cut the Lions lead to 1. Mike Clough put the final nail in the Knights' coffin, scoring for the Lions with 6:12 left in the game, to give the Lions a 2-goal lead. Sam Bourdages was in on the assist. Calvin had 67 total shots on goal to Purdue University Northwest's 33.
