GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA Division 3 men's hockey team defeated Lawrence Tech University 3-1 on Friday night at home. The Knights are now 2-1 on the season heading into their second leg of their double header with Lawrence Tech.
 
The Lawrence Tech Blue Devils struck first, scoring 5 minutes into the first period by a goal from Jake Melisko. Not to be left out, the Knights struck back and Myles Radersma netted a goal with 4:57 left in the 1st period. The period ended knotted up at 1 goal apiece. 
 
Less than a minute into the 2nd period Chris Bebolos scored to put the Knights ahead 2-1. Sergey Yakunin scored exactly halfway through the 2nd period assisted by Myles Radersma, to give Calvin a two-goal lead. 
 
No goals were scored in the 3rd period despite Calvin's 8 shots on goal. The Blue Devils were held to just 2 shots on goal in the 3rd period. The Knights won the game 3-1 at home.
 
COACHES COMMENT: Head Coach Austin Huizinga-"Wasn't our cleanest game. We were able to capitalize on some scoring chances, and (Garrett) Walker made some huge timely saves. Really proud of our guys and how they were able to close out the game."
 
NEXT UP: The Knights face Lawrence Tech again on Saturday night October 7 at 5 P.M. The game will be held in Southfield Michigan at Lawrence Tech.
