ATHENS, Ohio.- The Calvin men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team ranked 14th in the nation defeated 3rd ranked Ohio University 3-2 in OT Friday night. The Knights move up to 5-0 on the season.

The Knights'
Krzyzstof Petryla scored the lone goal of the first period with 10:13 left in the period. He was assisted by
Nick Justice and
Adam Heard. Despite having two power plays, Ohio did not score in the first period.

The Ohio University Bobcats netted 2 goals in the 2nd period in quick succession. First by Aiden Grieco with 11:29 left in the 2nd and followed by Hollander Thompson with 10:40 remaining. The period ended with the Bobcats in front 2-1.Â

Calvin's Joel Dielman came up big in the 3rd period scoring the equalizer unassisted with 14:31 left in the 3rd period. Neither team was able to light the lamp for the remainder of the period and the game would head to overtime.

With just 22 seconds left in the 5-minute sudden death overtime, Petryla scored the golden goal as well as his 2nd of the game. The overtime tally brought the Knights swarming onto the ice to congratulate their teammate and celebrate the upset win over the host Bobcats.
