The Calvin University Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team fell to the Davenport University Panthers 9-3 on Friday night.
The Calvin University Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team wrapped up their season on Friday night with a 9-3 loss to the local Davenport Panthers.
In the first period the Panthers got on the board first scoring just 20 seconds into the game. The Knights answered back five minutes later with a goal from Kyle VanDusen with the assists from Josh Ernst and Jacob Siebenga. A little under six minutes later the Panthers retook the lead from the Knights. Two minutes later the Panthers extended their lead to two goals. With four minutes left in the frame the Knights got a goal back, which came from Zach Malkowski.
At the end of the first period the Knights were trailing the Panthers 3-2. The Knights were outshot 15-14.
In the second period the panthers added two more goals to their lead and really put the Knights in a tough position.
At the end of the second period the Panthers were leading the Knights 5-2. The Knights were outshot 14-8.
In the third period the Panthers added another four goals to their totally. The Knights got one goal back from VanDusen with the assist from Maverick Baxtrom. Sadly, it was too late for the Knights. The Knights were outshot 41-34 for the game.
