GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin ACHA Division 3 men's hockey team won another close battle with the Ferris State Bulldogs on Saturday night. The Calvin Knights won 2-1, in another hard-fought finish following Friday's overtime 3-2 game.
The Knights improved their record to 8-6 on the season as they swept the Bulldogs in this weekend's series.
The Knights landed the first blow of the game in the first period.
Keigan Oberski, who also scored the game winning goal on Friday night, scored with 10:12 left in the period. He was assisted
Trevor Rublein and
Myles Radersma. Both teams would limit their penalties to one in the period. The Knights would be up 1-0 going into the second.
The second period saw a quiet spell for each team until Harry Ottsen found the back of the net for the Knights. His power play goal came with 7:16 remaining and was assisted by Sam VanSchepen and
Joseph Lugge. The score was 2-0 for the Knights at the end of the second.
The Bulldogs started their comeback effort early in the third period. Alec Newton scored a power play goal to cut the Calvin lead in half, with 17:27. However, a strong Calvin defense would keep the score static as the Knights held on for the 2-1 victory.
Liam Austin was in goal for the Knights.
NEXT UP: The Knights will play on Saturday, December 10 at 2:30pm. They will play Rowan University at the Eagles Ice Center. Puck-drop will be at 2:30 p.m.
