Calvin ACHA D1 Hockey Drops Saturday Matinee to Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin ACHA Division 1 men's hockey finished their top-10 matchup with Indiana Tech Saturday, losing 5-1.
 
The Knights' record fell to 13-2-2 on the season with the only losses of the season coming to Indiana Tech in this weekend's matchup.
 
The Indiana Tech Warriors struck first, scoring with still 16:20 remaining in the first period. Cam Chabot was the goal scorer. Matej Krasny tacked on one more for the Warriors with just over 7 minutes remaining. Charles Riordan responded for the Knights, scoring with 1:53 remaining. The Warriors were ahead 2-1 at the end of the first.
 
The second period was a goal-scoring drought for both teams, until the last 4 seconds. With 4 seconds remaining, Avery Smith of Indiana Tech found the back of the net, scoring a power play goal assisted by Luke Anderson and Aidan Dufort. The score would be 3-1 at the end of the second.
 
The Knights were held scoreless in third period as the Warriors added 2 more goals to their total. Scoring for the Warriors were Malik Ali and Matej Krasny.
 
Gregory Smith started in goal for the Knights and recorded 31 saves. Carlos Siso replaced Smith in goal for part of the third period, recording 1 save in his minutes.
 
 
NEXT UP: The Calvin Knights will look to rebound in their next game on Friday, December 9, in the GRSHOF Tournament.
