GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin ACHA D1 hockey team skated its way to an 8-1 win over the visiting Eastern Michigan Eagles Friday night at Eagles Ice Center.
Calvin improves to 11-0-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the GLCHL.

Calvin led 2-0 after one period of play, 6-0 after two periods and tacked on two more third period goals to cement the win.

Freshman Maverick Baxtrom scored a pair of goals to lead the Calvin scoring attack.

Scoring lone goals for the Knights were freshmen Lou Vesperini, Joel Dieleman, Steven Ickes and Keith Schenkel and seniors Jacob Siebenga and Ian Elkins
Greg Smith got the start in goal for the Knights and made 23 saves.

COACHES COMMENT: "We started slow but finished strong," said Calvin head coach Mike Petrusma. "We will for a quicker start tomorrow."

NEXT UP: Calvin will journey to Eastern Michigan for a return matchup on Saturday at 5 p.m.
