Knights Downed by Lakers 4-2

The Calvin University Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team fell to the Roosevelt University Lakers 4-2 on Friday night.

The Knights looked to bounce back after a tough shootout loss to GVSU last weekend. Unfortunately, Roosevelt had different plans for the evening for the Knights.

In the first period the Lakers came out strong and within two minutes found the first goal of the contest. With about six minutes to go in the frame the Knights tied the game at 1-1 with a goal from Zach Malkowski with the assist from Charles Riordan

After the end of the first period the Knights were tied with the Lakers 1-1. The Knights outshot the Lakers 19-8.

In the second period the Lakers began to take control of the game. Within four minutes the Lakers retook the lead to bring the game to 2-1. Just a minutes later they extended their lead to 3-1. The Knights fought back hard but could not find the back of the net in the period.

At the end of the second period the Knights found themselves trailing 3-1. The Knights outshot the Lakers 14-13.

In the third period the Lakers struck first once again adding their fourth goal of the contest with ten minutes to go in regulation. With about six minutes to go the Knights got a goal back with a goal from Jacob Siebenga with the assist from Kyle VanDusen

At the end of regulation the Lakers came out on top with a 4-2 victory over the Knights. The Knights outshot the Lakers 17-8.

Knights Goaltender Josh Greune had a strong game with 25 saves.

COACH PETRUSMA: "Our first and third periods were good. We need to manage our second periods better. When you out shoot a team by twenty shots typically you get a good result. Better net front presence will help to create more goals. We will regroup for Saturday's game and commit to the process!!"

The Knights are back in action Saturday, Nov. 6th as they face off against the Lakers again at 4:30PM at Eagle Ice Center.
