The Calvin University Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team defeated the Eastern Michigan Eagles 6-3 on Saturday night.
After coming off of a shutout win on Friday against the Eagles the Knights looked to get the sweep on the weekend. Luckily for the Knights they did just that.
In the first period the Knights struck first just two minutes in with a goal on the powerplay. The goal came from Michael Latridis with the assists from Ryan Jagielski and Josh Ernst. Just a minute later the Eagles got the goal back to tie the game at 1-1. With about seven minutes to go in the frame the Knights retook the lead with a goal from Ernst.
At the end of the first period the Knights found themselves leading 2-1. The Knights outshot the Eagles 15-6.
In the second period the Knights started to take control of the game. Four minutes into the frame the Knights found the back of the net with a goal from Chris Bebelos with the assist from Kyle VanDusen. About six minutes later the Knights extended their lead with a goal from Michael Fatta with the helpers from Latridis and Cal Erdmann. Just two minutes later the Eagles got a goal back to bring the score to 4-2. The Knights answered back in just under a minute with another goal from Ernst with the assist from Jacob Siebenga.
The second period concluded with the Knights leading the Eagles 5-2. The Knights outshot the Eagles 14-8.
In the third period the Eagles came out strong and struck within the first minute of the frame. The Knights final goal of the contest came around the halfway point of the period. The goal came from Justin Davis with the assists from Siebenga and Erdmann.
At the end of regulation the Knights came out on top of the Eagles 6-3. The Knights outshot the Eagles 19-5 in the third.
Knights Goaltender Josh Gruene had a strong game with 16 saves on the night.

The Knights return to action Wednesday, Novemeber 17th as they host Aquinas College at 8:00PM at Eagles Ice Center.
