The Calvin Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team fell to the Illinois State Redbirds 6-2 on Friday night.

In the first period the Knights came out strong looking to find the quick lead, but it was the Redbirds who struck first. The Knights got a couple more good chances but couldn't find a way through the Redbird defense. Later in the first, the Redbirds found the back of the net again to take an early 2-0 lead. The first period concluded with the Knights trailing behind the Redbirds 2-0. 

In the second period the Redbirds started where they left off in the first and quickly added two more goals to their lead. With the Knights now trailing by four goals they pushed to get on the board. The Knights finally found the back of the net with a goal from Cal Erdmann with the assists from Jared Virtanen and Austin Huizenga. Just three minutes after the Knights tally the Redbirds once again found a way past the Knights goaltender. The second period concluded with the Redbirds in the lead 5-1. 

In the third period the Knights came out strong and got some really good chances. Again the Knights found the back of the net with a goal from Cal Erdmann with helpers from Riley Robertson and Garrett Medina. Finally late in the third the Redbirds tallied one more to their goal total. The game concluded with a Redbird victory over the Knights 6-2. 

Calvin Knights goaltender Alex Gross had 40 saves on the night.
