The Calvin University Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team defeated the Cleary University Cougars 6-0 on Saturday night.
In the first period the Knights got the only goal of the period, which came at about the ten minute mark. The goal came from Cal Erdmann with assists from Sam Dexter and Brandon VanOphem.
The first period concluded witht he Knights leading 1-0.
In the second period the Knights got on the board with a goal just thirty second in, coming from Graham Kormash with the assists from Jacob Siebenga and Jared Virtanen. Two minutes later the Knights got another goal, this time from Riley Robertson with the assist from Ethan Bock and Ian Elkins. About three minutes later the Knights put another goal on the board. The goal was scored by Siebenga with the assists from Virtanen and Austin Huizenga. The Knights added one more goal late in the period with about a minute to goal Justin Davis buried a breakway chance to bring the Knights lead to 5-0.
The second period concluded with the Knights leading the Cougars 5-0.
In the third period the Knights added one more goal to their lead. The goal came just three minutes into the period from Kormash with the assist from Robertson.
The game concluded with the Knights coming out on top 6-0.
Knights Goaltender Darin Fox had 18 saves on the night for the shutout.
The Knights are back in action on Wednesday January 15th to take on the Western Michigan Broncos at Eagles Ice Center at 9:00PM.
