The Calvin University Knights ACHA D3 Hockey Team defeated the Indiana Tech Warriors 5-2 on Saturday night.
Coming off of the win the previous night the Knights traveled to Indiana Tech looking to keep the momentum rolling.
In the first period the Knights came out strong taking the early lead in the first three minutes with a goal from Sam Shaver with the assists from Luis Mendoza and Hayden Heys. About three minutes later the Knights added to their lead with a goal from Mendoza with the helper coming from Sam Boelema. The Knights went on to score another goal with about nine minutes to go in the period. The goal came from Jake Oakes with the assists coming from Mitchell Niesar and Heys.
The first period concluded with the Knights leading the Warriors 3-0.
In the second period the Warriors came out strong getting a goal on the board four minutes into the period. About four minutes later the Warriors tallied another goal to cut the Knights lead down to one. With three minutes to go in the period the Knights got a goal back with a goal from Mendoza with helpers from Shaver and Tyler Groot. With sixteen seconds to go in the period the Knights scored again this time coming from Heys with assists from Niesar and Ben Morse.
The second period concluded with the Knights leading the Warriors 5-2.
In the third period both teams went back and forth with some really good chances in front of goal, but neither team could find the back of the net.
The game concluded with a Knights victory over the Warriors 5-2.
Knights Goaltender Liam Austin had another strong game with 36 saves on the night.
