The Calvin University Knights ACHA D3 Hockey Team defeated the Indiana Tech Warriors 4-1 on Friday night.
In the first period the Knights tried to find the early go ahead goal but could not get any quality chances in front of goal. The Warriors pushed back hard and found the back of the net about halfway through the period to take the 1-0 lead.
The first period concluded with the Warriors leading the Knights 1-0.
In the second period both teams went back and forth with good chances in front of goal, but neither team could find the back of the net. With about a minute to go in the period the Knights tied the game with a goal from Jake Panzer with the assist from Tanner Huizenga.
The second period concluded with the game tied 1-1.
In the third period the Knights took the lead four minutes in with a goal from Brennan McClain with assists coming from Huizenga and Panzer. With about three minutes to go in the period the Knights extended their lead with a goal from Ben Morse with the assist from Liam Austin. The Knights then went on to tally one more goal with about thirty seconds to go. The goal came from Zach Malkowski with the assists coming from Morse and Hayden Heys.
The game concluded with the Knights coming out with the victory over the Warriors 4-1.
Knights Goaltender Liam Austin had a strong game with 30 saves on the night.
