MIDLAND, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA D3 hockey team defeated Northwood University on Saturday night to complete the weekend sweep. The Knights won 1-0 on the road and are now 2-0 on the season.
The lone goal of the game was scored in the 3rd period by Calvin's Drew Klomparens, who was assisted by Henry Holleman with 10:06 left to play in the game. Calvin put up 12 shots on goal in the 1st, 15 in the 2nd and 15 again in the 3rd. Northwood had 5 shots on goal in the 1st period, 6 in the 2nd and 11 in the 3rd. Calvin Outshot Northwood 42-22.
Both teams had a number of penalties and played a tough physical game. Northwood had 6 penalties while Calvin had 5.
Aiden Schultze was in net for Calvin and Trent Goheen was in the net for Northwood.
COACHES COMMENT: Head Coach Austin Huizenga, "I'm very happy with how we played today. Northwood is a great team and even better in their barn. We played really good team hockey all weekend. I'm excited to see what we can do this season."
