EAST LANSING, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA D3 hockey team suffered its 2nd loss of the season on Friday night, falling to the Michigan State University Spartans. The Knights lost 6-4 on the road and are now 7-2 on the year.

Calvin struck 1st late in the 1st period.
Myles Radersma scored with 3:56 remaining in the 1st period. He was assisted by Chris Bebelos and
Trevor Rublein. MSU equalized with 1:33 left in the period. Spencer Ances scored unassisted.Â

The Spartans scored 2 additional goals in the 2nd period to go up 3-1 on the Knights. The first was scored in the 2nd minute of the period by Jack Carscadden from Michael Kahl. The 2nd came from Jacob Gangola with Zach Stryjecki assisting. Calvin scored a goal of its own with 44 seconds left in the period.
Gabriel Sova scored with assists from
Harry Ottsen and
Oleg Grishatov. Both teams had 13 shots on goal in the period.Â

The Spartans scored 3 straight goals to start off the 2nd period and put the Knights 4 goals behind. Jack Ceccacci, Jacob Gangola, and Joe Fraccasi all scored for the Spartans in the 3rd. Calvin fought back in the waning minutes of the game scoring twice.
Owen Duiker scored with 4:52 to play and Josh VanSchepen scored with 27 seconds left. But the Knights' efforts were too little too late. The Spartans won 6-4, outshooting Calvin 37-30.Â
