GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA D3 men's hockey team defeated Notre Dame's D3 team 7-3 on Friday, September 22, at Eagles Ice Center. 
 
The Knights improved to 1-1 on the season after splitting games with Notre Dame this weekend. 
 
The Knights opened up the competition scoring with a goal scored by Tomas Postal with 12:48 left in the first period to put the Knights up 1-0. The Fighting Irish's Henry Stechmann equalized with just 1:24 remaining in the first period, setting the score equal going into the second period. 
 
Notre Dame gained the lead early in the second period when Stechmann scored his 2nd goal of the night putting the Irish up 2-1. The Knights fought back scoring 2 back to back goals from Gave Sova with 9:14 remaining and another just 13 seconds later from Zach Seaman, giving the Knights a 3-2 lead. Notre Dame scored another from Andrew Kvrowski with 3:41 remaining in the 2nd, tying the game back up at 3-3. Myles Radersma scored the third goal of the period for the Knights putting them back up 4-3 with 2:53 left in the period. 
 
The Knights managed to shut out the Irish and scored 3 of their own in the final period. Including a 2nd goal from Myles Radersma at the 11:55 minute mark followed up quickly by Harry Ottsen with 11:33 left in the third. Calvin ended the night with a bang scoring It's final goal of the game with just 2 seconds remaining by Zach Seaman.
 
Calvin Goalie Ryan Worosz made 32 saves to Notre Dame's Lucas Chalfoun's 31.

COACHES COMMENT: Head coach Austin Huizinga-"I was happy with how the guys battled and responded after Thursday. We put ourselves in the same position, 4-3 lead, going into the third. We let it slip Thursday, and made sure ND (Notre Dame) didn't have a chance tonight."
