MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The Calvin ACHA D3 hockey concluded its season with a 4-1 loss to Purdue in the third and final game of its pool play round at the ACHA D3 National Tournament.
Calvin fought to a 0-0 tie through one period of play. Purdue took a 1-0 lead with nine minutes left in the second period and added a late second period goal to lead 2-0 heading into the final period of play.
Freshman
Michael Ottsen broke through for a goal on a shot from the left point with
Joseph Lugge and
Nolan Bailen drawing assists on the play.
The Ottsen goal came with 9:30 left in the contest.
Purdue closed out the game with two late goals however to seal the win.
Highlights of the year included:
*First ACHA D3 qualifying berth since 2017 and first since the Calvin hockey program split into two teams, forming a D1 and maintaining a D3 team.
*Freshman
Myles Radersma scoring 19 goals, the most by a Calvin player since 2017
*Three All-Conference (Midwest Collegiate Hockey League) selections.
The Knights finish the season with an overall record of 16-14.
