MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - The Calvin ACHA D3 hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Notre Dame Thursday evening in the opening game of its three-game pool play assignment at the ACHA D3 National Tournament. 

Calvin trailed 1-0 after a tight first period that saw Notre Dame outshoot the Knights 10-8. 

Notre Dame added a second goal in period number two and then added three more goals in the third period. 

Notre Dame is the No. 2 seed for the ACHA D3 Tournament overall. 

Calvin will face Grand Valley State on Friday at 11:15 a.m. in day two of pool play action.
