The Calvin University Knights ACHA D3 Hockey Team fell to the Michigan State Spartans 1-0 on Saturday night.

In the first period both teams when end to end but the majority of the chances on goal came for the Spartans. Fortunately, the Knights defense kept them off the board. 

After the first period the game was tied 0-0. The Knights were outshot 12-3.

In the second period the Spartans broke the deadlock with a goal about eight minutes into the frame. The Knights pushed back as best they could but could not find the equalizer.

After the second period the Knights were trailing 1-0. The Knights were outshot 11-5.

In the third period the Knights really picked up the pressure and dominated the entire ice. Unfortunately, they could not find the back of the net. 

At the end of regulation the Knights were defeated 1-0. The Knights were outshot 27-26 for the game.

Knights Goaltender Garrett Walker finished with 26 saves on the night.

COACH HARTLEIN: "The Knights struggled to find their stride at home. They ramped up the pressure out shooting the Spartans 18-4 in the third but were unable to find the back of the net falling 1-0. They have two big league games against Western Michigan this coming weekend."
