The Calvin University Knights ACHA D3 Hockey Team tied the Western Michigan University Broncos 3-3 on Saturday night.

In the first period the Knights came out strong recieving some strong chances in front of goal, but were shut down by the Broncos defense. Around the six minute mark of the period the Knights found the breakthrough with a goal from Matthew Brown with the assists from Tyler Groot and Sam Shaver. 

The first period concluded with the Knights leading the Broncos 1-0. 

In the second period the Broncos came out strong tying the game at one just two minutes into the frame. Three minutes later the Knights retook the lead with a goal from Nathan Pohl with the assist from Tanner Huizenga. The rest of the period went back and forth between both ends, but neither team could find the back of the net again. 

The second period concluded with the Knights leading the Broncos 2-1. 

In the third period the Broncos came out strong and finally found the breakthrough around the halfway point of the period to tie the game at two goals. Five minutes later the Broncos found the back of the net again to take a 3-2 lead. With about three minutes to go in the game the Knights tied the game at three with a goal from Mitchell Niesar with the assists from Brown and Pohl. 

The third period concluded with the game tied 3-3.

In overtime both teams went back and forth with really good chances in front of goal, but neither team could find the game winner. 

The game concluded in a tie 3-3. 

The Knights return to action Wednesday, February 12th as they face off against UM Flint.
