The Calvin University Knights ACHA D3 Hockey Team fell to the Michigan State Spartans 7-1 on Saturday night.
In the first period the Spartans got on the board first scoring a goal with about seven minutes to go in the period. The Knights pushed back hard late in the frame but could not find the back of the net.
The first period concluded with the Spartans leading the Knights 1-0.
In the second period the Spartans added to their lead scoring just thirty-five seconds into the frame. The Spartans then went on to add another goal just eight seconds later. Three minutes later the Knights found the back of the net with a goal coming from Mitchell Niesar with the assists from Jake Oakes and Hayden Heys. Two minutes later the Spartans found the back of the net again.
The second period concluded with the Knights trailing 4-1.
In the third period the Spartans closed out the game scoring three unanswered goals.
The game concluded with the Spartans coming out victorious over the Knights 7-1.
Knights Goaltender Liam Austin had 38 saves on the night.
The Knights are back in action on Wednesday Jan. 22nd as they take on Ferris State University.
