The Calvin University Knights ACHA D3 Hockey Team fell to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 6-2 on Saturday night.

In the first period the Irish came out strong scoring just three minutes in to take an early 1-0 lead. The Knights pushed back hard but could not find the back of the net. With about six minutes to go in the period the Irish put another goal up on the board. At minute later they added another goal. About thirty seconds later the Irish scored once again. 

The first period concluded with the Fighting Irish leading the Knights 4-0. 

In the second period the Knights got on the board two minutes in with a goal from Hayden Heys with the assist from Ben Morse. About five minutes later the Knights scored again, this time the goal came from Andre Kilpela with assists from Sam Shaver and Luis Mendoza. With about four minutes to go in the period the Fighting Irish tallied another goal. 

The second period concluded with the Knights trailing 5-2. 

In the third period the Irish added one more goal to their lead and the Knights were left empty handed. 

The game concluded with the Knights falling short 6-2. 

Knights Goaltender's Liam Austin and Ryan Rapapta combined for 25 saves on the night. 

The Knights return to action on January 10th to take on UM Flint at Eagles Ice Center at 8:00PM.
