For the first time in her collegiate career, Calvin sophomore Kelsey Smith has been named the MIAA Player of the Week in women's volleyball.
An outside hitter from Vienna, Virginia, Smith had a stellar match in a conference victory over Kalamazoo last Wednesday night.
A graduate of Madison High School, Smith hit a blistering .692 clip in the win over the Hornets, smacking down nine kills in 13 attacks. She also served up a pair of aces, was credited with two digs and a pair of block assissts while recording 12 points in the three-set win.
Smith has helped second-ranked Calvin move out to a 13-1 overall record this fall including a 2-0 conference mark.
The Knights are set to host Trine University tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. inside Van Noord Arena.
