GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the eighth consecutive year, the Calvin volleyball team has received the AVCA Team Academic Award.
Calvin is one of 175 in NCAA Division III to achieve a Team Academic Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Under the direction of head coach Dr. Amber Warners, the Calvin women's volleyball team compiled a 3.550 grade point average as a team during the 2018-19 academic year.
It was another superlative year for the Calvin women's volleyball team as the Knights reached the NCAA III Tournament Championship finals and claimed their ninth-straight MIAA regular season title. The Knights finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 33-2.
