Grand Rapids, Mich. – Calvin junior Sarah DeVries has been named MIAA Specialty Player of the Week.
DeVries helped lead the Knights to three wins on the week over Olivet, Hope, and Alma as Calvin finished out the regular season being named MIAA Conference Champs.
Over three games, DeVries compiled an impressive tally of stats. 33 kills, 63 Attacks, 15 blocks, 15 digs, and three Aces.
DeVries has a .292 hitting percentage while averagving 3.67 kills and 7.0 assists-per-set.
In the win over Hope, DeVries just missed a triple-double as she tallied 19 assists, 10 digs an nine kills.
This is the third time DeVries has been honored this fall by the MIAA - two times as MIAA Player of the Week and once as MIAA Specialty Player of the Week.
Calvin will host the semifinals Friday and the finals on Saturday. Calvin will meet either Albion or Trine in one semifinal match on Friday with Hope meeting either Adrian or Alma in the first semifinal. Friday's winners will then advance to play in the MIAA Tournament final Saturday. All three matches will be played inside Van Noord Arena.
