Members of the Calvin women's track and field team competed at either the Bucknell Bison Classic or Oakland University Golden Grizzly Invitational this weekend.
At Bucknell on Saturday, Calvin's distance crew had a strong showing. Senior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) produced a season-best time of 4:30.51 in the 1500 meters. Her time ranks third on the NCAA Division III performance list this spring. Freshman Sadie Heeringa (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) also produced a season-best time in the 1500 meters at the meet, clocking in at 4:40.76 which ranks 38th on the NCAA Division III list.
In the 10,000 meter run, junior Michelle Koetje (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) recorded a career-best time of 37:18.38 that ranks 22nd on the NCAA III performance list.
At the Oakland Golden Grizzly Invitational on Saturday, Calvin finished ninth with 16 points. Calvin scored twice in the triple jump as junior Allison Rozell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) was third (34-1 1/4) while senior Madeline Dice (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South HS) was sixth (31-5 3/4).
In the 100 meter hurdles, sophomore Renee Miller (Marlette, Mich./Marlette HS) was fifth (16.30). Senior Hattie Greydanus (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis HS) was fifth in the 800 meters (2:24.52). Calvin's 4x400 meter relay team of Greydanus, junior Sidney Houlemard (Covington, La./Covington HS), senior Alyssa Roels (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) and sophomore Lindsay Pederson (Arlington Heights, Il./John Hersey HS) was fifth (4:34.91).
Calvin will compete at the Al Owens Classic on Friday and Saturday.
