Three members of the Calvin women's soccer team have received All-MIAA honors. Named to the All-MIAA First Team from Calvin are juniors Emily Orr and Maria VanderLei while junior Jessica Paulson has been named to the All-MIAA Second Team.
All three players are receiving All-MIAA honors for the first time.
A midfielder, VanderLei hails from Grand Rapids. She is a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. A midfielder, she helped ignite Calvin's offense with crisp passing while also playing steady defense in the back third.
A native of Hudsonville and a graduate of Hudsonville Unity Christian High School, Orr helped anchor a Calvin defense from her left back position. With her help, the Knights have posted five shutouts this season.
Paulson is from Plymouth. She is a graduate of Plymouth Christian High School. A forward, Paulson leads Calvin in scoring with seven goals, three assists and 17 points. She notched a hat trick in a 7-0 win at Saint Mary's on October 15 while also picking up one assist. She has one game-winning goal this season and is 1-for-1 on penalty kick tries.
"We're excited for Emily, Maria and Jessica for being selected as all-conference selections by the MIAA on behalf of our program," said Calvin women's soccer coach Emily Ottenhoff. "There are a lot of great players across the conference and therefore we don't take thse recognitions for granted."
Calvin is scheduled to compete in the first round of the MIAA Tournament on Saturday. The Knights will travel to Kalamazoo for a first round game at 5 p.m. at MacKenzie Field.
