ADA, Ohio. – The Calvin women's Soccer team fell to Ohio Northern 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.
The polar bears came out strong as they took the early 1-0 lead in the 4th minute of play.
Ohio Northern went on to score two more straight goals to pull ahead 3-0.
A foul on the Polar Bears, gave Calvin a penalty kick opportunity in the 32nd minute. Junior Jessica Paulson (Plymouth, Mich. / Plymouth Christian) stepped up to the line for the Knights and a successful attempt put Calvin on the board to make it a 3-1 game.
With the second half underway, neither team was able to connect on another goal opportunity and it was Ohio Northern who walked off with the 3-1 victory.
The Polar Bears outshot the Knights 11-6.
Head coach Emily Ottenhoff stated, "Ohio Northern was another tough team who came out assertive and put us on our heels. As a young team, we're learning new lessons each match. We will get back to work and look forward to getting another opportunity to compete together on Tuesday.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday as they take on Cornerstone University at 7 p.m.
