WHEATON, Ill. - Calvin dropped at 2-0 decision at No. 6 Wheaton Wednesday night.
Wheaton grabbed the early lead with a goal in the third minute of play and added another in the 36th minute to move into halftime with a two-goal advantage.
Calvin (0-4-1) had five shots at goal in the game and forced Wheaton goalkeeper Lauren Ketchum into making a pair of saves.
Junior goalkeeper Amy Kliewer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) was busy for the Knights and had a strong evening, collecting a season-high 13 saves.
Wheaton (5-0-0) finished the match with a 26-5 shots at goal advantage as well as an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
COACHES COMMENT: "Wheaton is a tough team and put us on our heels early with their pressure," said Calvin women's soccer coach Emily Ottenhoff. "I thought we played hard tonight, created some dangerous chances but we need to put the ball in the goal. We will get back to work and keep trying to find ways to get better. We look forward to getting to compete again on Saturday."
